Actually the dealer that I got my bike from has it listed as 34.8 I know that's almost the same, but I wonder if the motor is closer to the ground, but they bumped the suspension up to compensate. Not sure on that one. Yea it does sound a little strange.

2009 KLX Specs

This is all from the same spec sheet that all the dealers use. I think its some sort of template from Kawasaki.

Hmmmm they are listing the 06 and the 09 as exactly the same weight. I wish Kawi would get their act together.

where did you see that? I see the two older ones at 262lbs. and the new one at 277lbs. Ground clearance is virtually the same as well on the new bike. I've got two questions on the new bike: how does seat height increase as susp. travel decreases; and how does weight increase with no rack and virtually the same bike? I mean thicker spokes will not account for 15lbs. of heft. If anything, weight should have decreased with the elimination of that rack I personally didn't care for. Nobrakes always has a logical explanation for everything, maybe he can add some light to these questions or maybe he doesn't really give a rats ****.

we're talking 15lbs. here though and the tires aren't any larger than prior years. I'm just wondering if someone earlier hit it on the head with maybe an underquoted or inaccurateweight on the old bikes.

That new rear swingarm must be really heavy...

I wonder if the new evaporative emmissions system that makes the bike California legal is on every bike? How much does that weigh?

I check the specs on the Kawasaki page vs. the specs on my dealers website. It appears that the template on the dealers website has not been updated...

Click on the 2009 specs I posted above. Dry weight 262, but really weight is all relative, I mean I've taken a dump and lost that much.[8D]

Yea it sounds like there are as many different answers out there as there are bikes. Oh well. Who cares about what a bike weighs. The KLX could have weighed 300 and I still would have bought it. Oh and as some of you know I also would have paid $10,000 for it, but that's just me and the way I feel about the bike. Its all good.
