Mounting a rifle to a KLX

Seems not many kids went off the deep end and shot up schools back then either. And it wasn't because of guns in racks in pickup trucks in the parking lot. It is because the kids are pretty damn vicious these days. Parents seem to think they're all angels. If teachers and principals were able to discipline the way they did when I was in school (not to mention parents) I think things might be a bit different. No way I'd want any student to have any guns in any school where I taught - just don't trust too many of them. They could suck up some bath salts or crack and do up everyone they could.

Yeah, I understand the Canada deal on the guns. My wife and I went to Niagra Falls and saw both sides of the river. I checked my pistol in on the American side with customs in a lock box. With Texas plates, they were preparing to tear into my vehicle and stuff fairly thoroughly until I showed them my receipt for leaving my gun with the U.S. custom guys before going over. And this was all before 911.
I don't know...here in Texas we don't consider firearms that weird of a deal. We own them, we conceal carry them, we shoot them, we hunt with them, and we respect them for the most part. I can see a battle looming as the lefties in DC get their panties in a wad and start trying to dictate to the states all their little rules about guns. It's probably the very example that our founding fathers warned us about as to why we need to keep our guns.

a lot of the gun forums have "bike" threads discuss what to carry and how...

I know it's not the purpose of the topic but it went this way so I'm adding my 2 cents too. I totally disagree with you opinion but respect it and I'm biaised in my opinion since our culture is different in Canada. I think that if everybody has a gun people will get more paranoid and anxious about their protection and there's a risk of more shooting. But what I think is the major problem is the kind of gun available. I don't think that they thought about automatic/semi-automatic guns with > 10 bullets magazine when they adopted the Constitution in 1787. I don't have any problem with a guy carrying a handgun or rifle for hunting or whatever protection since it's in your culture but I think that those automatic/semi-automatic guns are way too accessible in the US. Sorry if I offended anybody with my opinion.

I think it all goes back to them mispelling bare as bear. They meant for everyone to have the right to wear short sleeve shirts, remember the first bunch over from England were Puritans.

The real problem in the U.S. (and anywhere war, murder, genocide, etc. exists) is a lack of R-E-S-P-E-C-T and humility. Our culture has degraded...we've lost the will to teach these values to our children, we don't educate our children to be silently strong, we let everyone think that they are somehow more special than everyone else, and to take offense if they're not treated specially. We've lost accountability from the time of birth. We've lost the ability to discipline, and lost the value of self-discipline. We think we're teaching 'inclusiveness' but we've lost the forest for the trees.
But enough of all that talk. To the question of the OP, I have seen a Kolpin Gunboot, such as one of the pictures above, only mounted to a KLR running from near the footpeg diagonally up past the subframe. Looked to work so well that I have one too, though I have not mounted it to the KLX yet.

First, for the purpose of the topic, I was carrying a rifle on my other bike with something like that http://images.motorcycle-superstore....ack_Single.jpg attached on the handlebars for short hunting ride. It doesn't protect against the elements and it's not good for single trails where it could hit a branch or tree!

My comment is not that of one who is just applying his own wishful logic and meaning to the 2nd amendment. Many personal writings of the authors involved in our founding documents confirm that it is rational and wise to be leery of your government. They knew the nature of men and especially men with lots of power. Of course they didn't know there would be fully automatic weapons and nuclear bombs, but they wouldn't expect our citizens to oppose an oppressive government from within or from outside while we were armed with nothing but singleshot rifles and breakover shotguns. I find it interesting that almost without exception, those who aggressively pursue the removal of many of the guns from the citizenry are also those who desire and promote big government...just a coincidence...probably.
I realize that some of my ramblings here might be taken as unfounded fear. No, I don't hide under the bed at night. I don't cringe when someone knocks on the door. And I don't get nervous when a helicopter flies over the house...black or not. But I do try give our founding fathers some credit. They lived through tyranny, and I'd hope they learned a thing or two to pass on to us.

TNC for President.... I'm serious.
What scares me is the huge percentage of our population that couldn't tell you what the Second Amendment is or follow your train of thought.
Who could have predicted this thread would end up here?
