Mounting a rifle to a KLX

LOL! not far off! Here is a summary of some of the topics typically discussed on other forums I belong to:
- Honda 919 & VFR - Are there any FREE performance mods which won't compromise ANY reliability or fuel economy?
- Kawasaki ZX6R - Need help, the neon lights under my fairing aren't coming on.
- Buell XB - My XB9 is faster, and does better burnouts, than your XB12.
- Yamaha XS650 - Check out these pics of my chopper build!
- BMW airhead - A simple 700 step tune-up guide (Last post 6 months ago)
I guess being a Canadian city-dweller makes me naive to guns. They are really only something I ever come into contact with at a shooting range on friend's stag party or a weekend in Las Vegas

I don't know...here in Texas we don't consider firearms that weird of a deal. We own them, we conceal carry them, we shoot them, we hunt with them, and we respect them for the most part. I can see a battle looming as the lefties in DC get their panties in a wad and start trying to dictate to the states all their little rules about guns. It's probably the very example that our founding fathers warned us about as to why we need to keep our guns.

You're very right TNC. I live in Alberta which is often referred to as "Texas of the North" and we are generally comparatively less understanding of guns than Texas.
I recall being on the freeway in Corpus Cristi doing 75mph in my little rental PT cruiser when I came up on a Harley putting along at 65mph in the passing lane. Just as I was about to give the horn a friendly tap to let him know I wanted past him, I noticed some kind of long-gun strapped to the bike! Needless to say, I immediately found 55mph a perfectly acceptable speed!

Yeah, I understand the Canada deal on the guns. My wife and I went to Niagra Falls and saw both sides of the river. I checked my pistol in on the American side with customs in a lock box. With Texas plates, they were preparing to tear into my vehicle and stuff fairly thoroughly until I showed them my receipt for leaving my gun with the U.S. custom guys before going over. And this was all before 911.

Actually Canadian laws on guns are considered quite lax compared to most countries in the world. Problem with the US, more is better attitude toward guns, is all those surplus of guns are ending up in the hands of those who aught not have them, not only in their own country, but in half the third world countries as well.
.
Years ago, when I use to hunt, I would just leave my rifle on a rack behind the seat in the back of my truck. I lived close to the US border and one time decided to run across the line, totally forgetting about about the rifle in the back of the truck. They saw it and wouldn't let me take it across the border, so I asked them if I could just leave it there, they said "no way", so I had to turn around. I didn't want to drive all the way home (didn't think about leaving it at the Canadian customs), so I stashed the rifle in the bush and went back down to the border, the same guy asked what I did with it and I simply said I left it somewhere, he didn't believe me and ordered another border worker to search my vehicle. I had a canopy on the truck and had been camping, so there was a lot of junk in there. I explained the situation to the guy doing the search, before he got to far into it, and he just rolled his eyes and let me go without dragging all the junk out of my truck.

You're right Mucky. *I didn't mean to suggest that all us Canucks are anti-gun. *Certainly the rural folk are well accustomed to guns. *
My uncle farms in central Alberta. *He's one of the most politically liberal guys you'll ever meet, but you'd NEVER take his guns from him!
Admittedly my cohort is pretty yuppie which perhaps explains my own personal naivety about guns as much as my nationality does...
