Also i think you meant to say that the ATF is allowed one "warrantless" (i.e. no probable cause) search every year. That basically means they can show up whenever they want to search for whatever once a year for no reason and without prior notice.

LOL!...I wonder how many go to that website and believe it's the real thing? I'm not sure the story of NRA bereavement baskets for the families of Newtown shooting victims was that good an idea for humor, and I have a pretty sick sense of humor sometimes.

 

Ha ha, ya this thread has taken on a life of its own. Someone posted a link to a mount that goes across the handlebars that I like. My concern would be it holding the rifle securely. So no decision yet.

Now you really want to think about something here are two tidbits:

Think about how almost any and everyone has driver's licenses and cars. Think about how some drive. Think about how motorcyclists complain about the driving skills of so many drivers... now think about a similar situation with guns as more and more people buy in. I'm thinking not everyone really should have one attained so easily. Would you want to have some of those idiots armed?

Now think about your kids, grand kids, or nieces and nephews... Would you want a minimum wage Barney Fife or some powertripping volunteer guarding their school with them in there? How long ya thinking some of the headaches of being around a bunch of middle school and high school students is going to work for them? I'm thinking the NRA was pretty lame with that one.

Now, back to the gun scabbard. I'm wondering if the OP ever got one. I still think the "Rifleman" job on the left side would look cool. Especially if he had a lever action rifle.

 

I am honestly more worried about the power-tripping, poorly trained "police" all over this country who many times have unrestriced access to title II weapons than the average joe citizen with his semi AR-15.

The simple fact that while gun ownership has skyrocketed in the last 20 years, the violent crime rate has fallen to half of what it was in that same 20 year period pretty much proves that "more guns=more crime" is completely false.

Let me tell you about that guy that I saw carrying that rifle/scabbard combo on the KLR that I mentioned earlier in this thread. I was at the Hite's Crossing marina gas station in SE Utah on the banks of Lake Powell. I had already filled up my KLR and was standing at the pumps preparing to leave...putting on helmet, gloves, and all that stuff. Up pulls another KLR almost identical to mine, but it had that leather scabbard attached to the fork with a lever action rifle sticking out of it. The guy riding it looked like a little kid due to his height and overall size...a really small guy. He pulled off his helmet, and he was clearly an adult...maybe around 30. He was so short, he actually pulled up to the gas pump and stepped off the bike using the raised concrete base for the gas pumps.

I said, "Hey man, how's it going?" The guy was all smiles and obviously happy, but he spouted out something that I'm fairly sure was French and made a gesture that he didn't speak English. I just gave him a thumbs-up and a smile and headed off. I thought about that guy as I rode away. Though I don't know for sure, I was thinking that maybe he came from somewhere that didn't allow firearms or at least didn't allow you to run around on your dirt bike with one strapped to the bike. He was having the time of his life, riding around in the American west, thinking about John Wayne, Randolf Scott, and other famous movie cowboys. Who knows, but he seemed like he was living the dream and having a heck of an adventure.

 

The AR7 is prone to jamming and you'll need to adjust the sights often. The 10/22 is as good as a 22 gets IMO. The TD assembly is really solid. The bag that comes with the takedown has lots of d-rings and could be mounted pretty easy. I wish it didn't have their big red logo on it.
