I have to take a mandatory vacation the week of Thanksgiving (use it or lose it), I was originally thinking of taking my ktm 640 adv on a mini adventure ride......but my girl saysto me today and I quote "why drive around Florida.....you could rent a bike in Costa Ricawhile I visit my sister for Thanksgiving." [sm=kissykissy.gif] ummm ok I'll look into it. [sm=happybounce.gif] I might marry this girl.

After alittle researchI found a roundtrip $304flight fromMiami to Costa. I founda cool place to rentxr250sfor only $279/week. Hotels are only $20/night.

Here are some pics from the bikerental place about the riding to expect....It just seems weird to do a trip like this myself......but way fun too on the other hand.....what would you do?

Anyone want to tag along, none of my friends can take off work.....I was going to do a solo Fl, Ga, Miss, Al & La advride.....this seems more fun. And warmer.

You better put a ring on her before someone else does, she's a keeper! Given the lack of trails and places to ride around here locally, I'd take about anywhere to ride about now. I'm suffering from severe cabin fever.

FM that would be awsome!!! I could see one thing that would kinda bother me, say you get there and you hit some stuff you know the klx would go right through but the bike your on is having a hard time..... that would suck.... but i would deal with it... that does look like a ton of fun.... marry that girl.... I have planned on riding on sunday, and another couple guys wanna ride on saturday and i asked my wife if i could ride both days..... " i dont care" was her response.... already got a ring on her finger

 

XR's are very capable bikes. There are some differences but from my experience they are the closest comparable bike to the KLX.
Looks like an experience that would be hard to turn your back on. If I had a little more time for planning I would be all over that!
Do it and have enough fun for me too!!!

 

You'll love Costa Rica. I did a trip there on Husky 610's some time back. We rode from San Jose to the west coast and back with a few side trips along the way. The single track is to die for! If it's rainy, get ready for some serious huff and puff time though. I was there in June, just tipping into the monsoons. We were lucky. When it rains, the mud has no bottom...as you saw in the photos. I don't remember what the weather would be like this time of year. Might be great.
Have a blast and take lots of photos!
