Default Moto-Pro Fork Valve Install Questions

Anyone out there install the Moto-Pro fork valves themselves (might I be the first)? It is Sunday and Moto-Pro is closed.

Unfortunately, the install instructions are a bit unclear when converting our valves (they appear to be the "inverse bending valve" type and aren't the main example in the install instructions).

Anyway, if you installed your own, you might be able to help.

I may have figured it out a bit more, please take a look at this picture:

With this stack up, the check plate moves up and down, but in step 6 of the instructions, it says that the valve assembly should not rotate on the shaft once the retaining nut is in place -- it seems that I'm still missing something?

Sorry no help here. Better you than me doing that, I would have sent the forks to them.

I don't think that the job is much more difficult than working on a carb. Just need a couple of special tools (14mm hex wrench and cartridge holder) and a clear set of instructions, which unfortunately, I don't think that I got. Plan a detailed write-up once I get through the first one -- hopefully that'll help the next guy.

Sorry I can't help you either. You seem like a pretty smart fellow, Dan, but my suggestion is to just be patient and call MotoPro once they open again. It wouldn't be very fun to have to pull the forks apart again...just my 2 pesos worth.

Yep, I all ready my decision on this. I'm waiting until I get confirmation on the setup from Moto-pro. Haste makes waste, ...and so on. Besdies, don't want to screw anything up or waste fork oil.

I was suprised on how dirty and gritty the fork oil was. The bike has 2000 miles on it, but mostly offroad miles. I've got a set of seal savers to go on -- hopefully they'll help keep the grit out.

Also, the fork cap seemed to be on really tight. I recommend cracking them before taking them out of the triple clamps.

Man, you know you're in deep when you see parts categorized and arranged by size and a pair of calipers in the picture. [:@]
