Huh, thats funny

I keep hearing this argument but have yet to ever see any evidence.

Been running a KandN on my KLX for over a year ( lots of dirt and dust too ) and guess what, my bike hasn't blown up yet. I even tore down my engine to do a big bore a month ago and the engine was clean as a whistle.

Also, had them in all my cars for the last 10 years and have put thousands upon thousands of miles on them and never had a single problem.

A properly oiled filter works just fine.

Does your bike have a hard time starting?

If during the cooler/colder months your bike fires up immediately with the choke on for the first start of the day, then you don't have a problem. If it tends to take a fair amount of cranking to get started, then drill the starter jet to .018". There are numerous threads here on this forum about this in the search function.

Hmmm.. I just bought the bike and have no idea how she starts in the cooler season.. I am doing the exhaust/snorkel/rejet soon.. so to be on the safe side should I just drill her?! I don't want to have to do it more than once if I don't need to..

I have never read of anyone doing the choke drill mod and wishing they hadn't. I would definitely classify it as a "might as well, while you're in there" type of job.
