mods to the OEM stock 250 exhaust?
barring the "just shut up and buy the slip on" comments, has anyone ever tried to monkey with the stock muffler and end plate / baffle, and if so to any gain?. thinking the stocky is similar to the construction of the 300 with the exception of the plate being welded on the end instead of bolted. If i took a hole saw and overbored the outside of my pencil exhaust to say 1", would that benefit me?
Saw one search where one person had moded the exhaust with some drill holes in the outer perimeter, however three holes they said penetrated the SA chamber, which i dont want to do, and dont know what type of gain, if any they ever saw.
Thinking if i open up the exhaust i can buy the 300 end cap and drill/tap two holes to bolt that on if i wanted to shut it up again. Has anyone tried this before? Anyone know if this would help uncork my beloved rocking horse???

One of the free mods is to take a 1/2" drill bit and punch through the last baffle in the muffler... Supposedly doesn't affect the sound much, but opens it up, and won't affect the spark arrestor either...

I have started opening up the back plate. I drilled a series of holes around the center exhaust port. It sounds really nice and breathes easier, but it appears that the construction is not the same as the 300 in that it has a second baffle. I started to use a hole saw around the center exhaust, until the bit fell apart. I think the penetration is within the SA chamber now. worst thing i should have to do is finish drilling out the center exhaust and add a plug from a 300 tapping and bolting it into the exhaust. I just ordered a 351 kit last night so i dont know that I will keep the stock exhaust much longer. Looking for a stock 300 header and exhaust to put on it or possible a q4 slip on. I was concerned using the bit that i may be destroying the function of the SA chamber but it appears i breached it anyhow. If anyone is interested I will post pics as i dig into it further.
