Default Mirror collars....gooooonnee....

I hit up a local MX park with some trails today. Took off the mirrors, cargo netted them to the back on top of my backpack that had a spare tube, first aid kid and the stock toolkit. Rode all day. Had a violent get-off once, but I wasn't hurt. Tusk mount on right side pushed down a bit and loosened. It saved my lever and hand, along with the master cylinder. THe backpack was stashed behind a tree when I crashed.

I go to put the mirrors back on after riding, and discover the bottom collars are missing. There is no way for me to position the mirrors besides "all the way screwed in". And of course that position doesn't let me see anything at all...

Now what? Besides ordering foldy mirrors...which I have been eying up...

Ya....Yankem

I checked on my bike in the backyard 2night....Yup seen it...But more like I seen these big tall insect looking antennas/feelers....Looked like a giant grasshopper....Nope...Was my green 250s...

I might even take the mirrors off all together....I dont trust/use them to pass...Always turn my head once or twice..I barely pass any cars anyways..I use them to see cars behind me riding my butt....But thats every car out there....Plus it seems Im always fine tuning them every time I get on the bike and they still dont give me the full view I want....

I say yankem and wait to see if a cop will even ticket ya....Probably got 24 hours to fix it anyways and have the ticket thrown out.....

I hear you guys on all this. I still would like maximum situational awareness when I'm on the road. The end of my driveway is a 70mph highway. OK...it drops to 65mph at night...

I think if I find a small nut it'll work. These mirrors do look like antenna stalks... I just dropped $500 on the muzzy system, I'm trying to cut corners here!!!

Take the praying mantis feelers to your local hardware store and try some metric nuts on them....J/k.

Im with ya....The cheaper the better....I like the folding...But rather not spend the mulla on that type of sparkle now...WELL......Maybe next summer...Good luck on your $1 fix...Nice cheap fix always feels great.....

Went to my local Wal-mart or Canadian tire and got some cheap flexy bycycle mirrors for like $10. Keeps the law happy and quite frankly work just as well if not better than stock. You can reposition them more than stock.

Just go get some nuts at the hardware store as mentioned above. And yes take the mirrors in with you. Then for christmass ask santa for a new folding mirror. Much easier to fold one than it is to unscrew and stow one. I like my Ken Sean folding mirror ($16.99). I just run one mirror, and have it mounted in the left mirror perch, not the clutch perch so it does less damage if it gets snapped off.

WRONG!!! These mirrors are Tough as a Tank! I have dropped Mine on the mirrors many times and they kept the rest of the bike safe. It's cool to change them for looks but they can take a beating. Just get some regular old nuts that fit the threads to lock them in place.

LOL...I can vouch for that. Mine was upside down after my "incident" a few weeks ago. Had to loosen the mount to move it back where it's supposed to be. No damage to the mirror at all.

Thanks, I didn't even think of Wally World for that...
