Miles –VS- Hours
I’m just shy of 500 miles on my ’10 KLX 250S that I’ve had for a couple of months. This is not my daily ride as I have an ’08 KLR 650 and an ’06 Road Star 1700 that get most of my attention. I’m chomping at the bit to get the first service on the KLX out of the way so I can rejet and possibly put on a FMF exhaust. My dilemma is this. Whereas I have less than 500 miles most of my rides average 70 miles in 3 hours. So I figure I have about 21 hours on the bike. If you take 50 MPH X 21 hours, that’s over 1,000 highway miles.
Is my logic on track here? Also, if I were to get a FMF slip on muffler, could I add the mega bomb or power bomb later, using the slip on? Thanks in advance.

For an FMF slip-on it can be installed without jetting (per their instructions), I did it and it was a big improvment on it's own before jetting. You can add a header of choice later and you will want to jet if you mess with the intake side. Both my aftermarket pipe and header are worlds better than the stock peices they replaced.

10-4 on the mods. Already changed the oil and went synthetic. I just wanted to get the initial valve adjustment done before I start tinkering with the carb and exhaust. Thanks for the input!

I've heard that about the stock header. Plus it has a heat shield already on it... Thanks for the reply!

Improvement is what I'm looking for. I'm pondering a 13T front spocket in addition to the jetting and exhaust mod. Thanks!

Guilty as charged. I've been lurking on this forum for some time now soaking up the comments and vast knowlege from other KLX riders. I'll post my intro tonight after work. Thanks for the welcome!
