Back at the sea level from CO and quest for magical carb jetting continues.

I did more test runs today and among other things re-verified the fuel level, it is set to 14mm exactly as it should.
My configuration is still same as last time: FMF Q4, stock header, stock 250, TM33, Twin Air filter, stock snorkel.
- Pilot jet = 30 This is too small, at 1/8 -1/4 throttle the A/F is around 14
- Needle jet = Q-0. This is good, mid throttle is great.
- MJ = 120. I was using 117.5 but with that I got bit of stumble at WOT. 120 works great although A/F reads ~12 and from what I read at WOT you should be right around 13.

Next I'll get a 35 and 37.5 PJ and see what gives best on/off throttle response.
Now the high end is great but bit of lean stumble at off -> on throttle transition.

Also, there's a bigger header coming in from the mail and another muffler for parts for a "custom made" quiet but well flowing exhaust system.

TM 33/34 solved the "hard starting" but I lost the top revs.
It surges after about 8500 rpm. (The original carb would do 100mph {indicated}) runs great up till 8500 but won't go to far past 9000 before surging gets BAD Any advice ? Bill tuned it for my altitude ( Toronto CANADA ) New air filter and NGK plug.
Sincere thanks Marc

B. replied the next day. Seems a great guy!
says

If you are running the air box lid on & having this problem you will need to increase the main jet one step larger.

We think I'll be going to a 0.140 (?) main jet.

Part # 27
Hope I can simply rotate the carb in the boots to change it.
When I find the darn thing!

Any advice on this ...Do I turn it in snug..I'm no slouch but not a mech either

Good luck to all, Sincerely Marc

Good day ALL
Thanks to B.Blue for the advice. I ordered both the 140 and 142.5 "large round head Mikuni main jets. Think I'll start w/the 142.5. It's a winter project.
I''l post the result when I get this stuff together
Thanks for all the help Sincerely Marc
