Default Michelin AC10 120/90-18 pics / tire comparisons

My last tire change I went from a Kenda Trackmaster 120/100-18 to the Michelin AC10 120/90-18...

I prefer the AC10 over the Trackmaster since it is smoother on the street and offroad performance is very similar to the Trackmaster..
for my next tire change I'm leaning towards Maxxis Maxxcross IT (or desert IT) since I don't care much about DOT ratings.. anyone tried non-DOT tires on their KLX?

speaking of Maxxis, anyone tried the Dualmaxx on their KLX? I haven't heard much about these tires but they look like they may also be decent for a DOT-approved tire...

Here's a pic of the AC10 installed for anyone interested:

I just put ac10's on my bike- front and rear- 500 miles so far- great in sand- made the bike climb so much better.

you said "made the bike climb better"- could you please let us know-better than what?
I don't get to ride in the sand to often; but this summer we are making some plans to go over to theSE Idaho sand dunes.
And I found my Trackmasters aired down to 12-13 psi it climbs like a goat now. I don't think I can imagine better - maybe different conditions will make a big difference.
How much do those AC-10s run as a set?

They are $65-$70 each depending where you go. Unless they last significantly longer than the Trakmaster I won't use them again. I don't like the AC-10 front in sand, its so skinny and rounded that you need to run quite fast to get it to float. I'll definitely switch back to the Kenda 776F (not the 760 Trackmaster) front tire, rear is undecided.

Non-DOT tires have a different compound, or so I've read anyway. I know my non DOT GBC tires are getting chewed up pretty quick on the pavement, and there are more studs touching the road than rubber.

For a Non-DOT rear tire, I've heard great things about the Pirelli MT-16.

For a front, I've heard very good things about the Pirelli Scorpion Pro - I'll probably try that front next after my Bridgestone E660 wears out. The Scorpion Pro front is even DOT, I believe.

Im running the Michelin AC10 rear and front. If anything they look to be good hard tyres but I will put a Scorpion on the front. I put a pair ( mid compound) of Scorpions on my sons KX125 and they stick like anything in difficult terrain. I dont think they would wear that well on a DS because there are big gaps between the ***** and the traction characteristics are sacrificial. Even so I will have one on the front of the KLX soon. I have heard that the hard MT 16s wear ok in a DS situation.
Oh BTW I only ride the KLX in dirt.
