So was there any performance gain or just the elimination of the decel popping?

have you done anything for a heat shield? I keep thinking about getting one but dont want to buy a new pair of pants for every ride I go on.

I live in Thailand & do alot of riding wearing shorts (i'm a squid...lol). I put on a pro carbon heat shield on my megabomb. Not one incident or burn in almost a year, at least once a week my leg somehow touches the heat shield & i'm reminded as to how good an investment it was!!! Looks good as well...

pretty sure there was no exhaust leak in the previous setup...i checked and double checked...also, i've been riding with a fmf q4 and switching to the hmf to see if changing to a more free-flowing exhaust would help, but all it did was change the noise level...sealed the exhaust pipe joints too...

i added the fmf heatshield...did about 50 miles yesterday...about 25 miles of 80 mph highway...and, about 25 miles of slow and fast mountain twisties with no pants melting and no decel pops...when bombing down some really steep twisties and engine braking, i could hear the quiet rumble like faint mini-pops, but hardly noticeable...
