Default Master Cylinder Compatible Models

Hi guys, so I'm wondering if the master cylinder on the KLX250SF is compatible with other Kawasaki models. I need to rebuild it and K&L Supply doesnt list a rebuild kit for this bike. I was hoping maybe a kit for another bike would work as long as the master cylinder & piston are the same since all that is replaced are the seals.

I'm down in Mexico so it's either find a K&L part that will work or wait at least 3 weeks and pay shipping & customs from US.

Thanks, cheers,

According to Kawasaki's parts listing, the master cylinder and the piston assembly (actual working part) is only used on 09-14 models both S and SF.

Apparently earlier models have some difference in diameter or such.

Thanks KLX. Yeah, thats what Im afraid of. However, the difference between this model and others could be in the piston connection to the lever. Maybe the KLX300 or another model have the same MC piston diameter and seal width.

Cheers

So, being desperate to find this MC rebuild kit here I started cross referencing some parts myself on several parts sites. No luck on a couple but then I came across rocky mountain. I searched for the rebuild kit for the SF there, then they have an option to show what other machines it fits, which actually shows all of the mc rebuild kits from the same brand. In this case it was Pro X, part number 1455070001. I then searched for this number in the complete list, listed all of the kawasaki models that it fits.

With this list, I went to the K&L Supply catalog model list for MC rebuild kits. Well wouldn't you know all of the models have the same part number here too: 32-4063

Here is the list of models: 89-94 KDX200,91-94 KDX250,87-92 KX125,88-92 KX200,85-93 KX500,88-93 KX80

So I'm thinking this kit may fit the SF. My reasoning is that K&L hasn't yet cross-referenced their part numbers to the S and SF models, as well as a couple of others that are listed in rocky mountain but dont have a K&L part number for this kit.

Thoughts? Im I being stupid? Will I waste my time and money? Or will I get lucky jaja

Cheers

This is the K&L Part here: 88 93 Kawasaki KX80 New K L Front Brake Master Cylinder Rebuild Kit 32 4063 | eBay

I cant find a photo specific for S/SF but that K&L part looks very much like my MC parts. I wont be sure until I try it I guess.

Best of luck with it. As I stated, I checked the piston/seal is one part and exclusive to the 09-14 model

If you want to check, here is the link to Kawasaki parts Pick your year, size, whatever then pick your bike, pick parts diagram and the parts group you want. Pick the part number, then pick the question mark to see what it fits.
