Making the KLX more of a commuter
Just recently I got myself a new 450 just for dirt riding as I felt I was asking way too much of the KLX doing dirt riding as well as my daily commuter. So with that it didn't really make sense to stick with riding on my Dunlop D606's on the tar - both from a safety and a tyre longevity perspective. I had a second set of rims waiting for me to sort them out, but I kept putting it off as the front wheel needed to be relaced first.
I intended putting an 18" rim on the front at the same time as relacing it until I found out you can get decent road tyres in 21" and 18" combo's. There's probably a reason it's not as popular an option as the 17" motard wheels, but I think this is reasonably good option.
So anyway, they are sorted now with a set of Kenda's - I think they are Kenda K761 Enduro's but am not sure as I got them off someone else because they weren't using them. Here's the final setup

Tires
How are those tires working out for you? Have you taken then in the dirt? AND how much is some1 looking to pay when purchasing tires similar to yours?

I've only ridden with them twice now on paved road and they seem to work nicely. I will need to play with tyre pressures as I think I am running them a bit hard at 28psi (they are rated to 32psi). Definitely less vibration than the D606's thanks to the lack of *****.
I will not be taking these tyres on the dirt EVER. They just aren't dirt tyres - that's why I have the spare (original) set of wheel with the D606's on. I would think these tyres are useless on anything but paved roads though.
As for the cost, I got them as part of a package so I really don't know I'm afraid. The guy I got them off had bought them for his Husky TE450 when he did his ACL an couldn't ride on the dirt, but soon realised the bike just was not suited to paved road riding so he took them off again. He has given up riding now after injuring himself too much and I got all of his kit together with teh tyres. Kit included tyre changer, hydraulic lift, helmet, neck brace, knee braces, pants, jerseys, chest protectors, etc etc. Litterally everything bike related he had as he feared he would be tempted to ride again if he had any kit.
Thanks for the complement of the brake line. It's a Goodridge line - I had hoped the whole line would be green, not just the ends. Still looks decent. I'm also regretting asking them to add in 10cm/4" to the line as it sticks out quite high at the top. Ahh well, lessons we learn hey.

re Tire Pressure: The pressure on the sidewall is the maximum the tire can handle in use. The pressure to use is in your owner's manual. For the KLX250s it is 22 psi front and rear without a passenger.

Eric, those are similar to the 705 tires I just put on. Today I just had to try and go up a dirt road over by the Midway bar, I made it literally 20 feet or so and the bike just threw itself on the ground breaking the stupid clutch lever. That was my last attempt at off road until there is totally dry ground.
