Default Maintenance Time

So it looks like the dust has settled finally, back to bikes!

Probably wondering why I'm here and not on the beach. Well, the wife got sick on the hellicopter tour today and isnt well. So I'm hanging out on the beachfront patio with me laptop.

Anyway, the bikes at 1200miles and I know theres a bunch of routine checks your supposed to do as per the manual, but what should I really be doing at this point? I haven't done anything aside from change the oil and filter. Bolts are fine because I take them on and off a bunch. So what should I be pulling apart this winter?

Cheers

Derek

The dust settled that's funny. Actually its raining so hard here there will be no dust for a really long time. Derek if you get a chance you might want to grease the swing arm, and also the steering bearings. That's the only thing I can think of right now. Oh yea I almost forgot, and this goes for everyone on here, take a small wrench and tap all of the spokes. You'll be able to tell if one is loose by the tone. snug it up and your good to go.

Stinking OCD....I saw this come across the Blackberry 4 hours ago, and it was torture waiting to get home and correct it.

I check my spokes while the bike is cooling off when I park it in the garage after a nice ride so it's ready the next time.I have only found a few loose spokes, but road riding shouldn't loosen them too much.

brilliant then. so no need to check valves or tear apart the engine or nothin?

also, totally a noob question. what sort of grease do you use? I've got this heavy duty clear grease that i use for stuff at work (lubricating o-rings and such) probably not what i'm looking for.

its going to rain pretty hard here I can sense it. even with crummy weather its still paradise here. i envy Hawaiirider. I must find a way to become a US citizen here

PS: glad to see your still wearing the tin deej. I can't believe the downward spiral that has happened of recent.

You should be on the beach damn it!!
Hope you are having a blast over there, that island looks amazing to own a dual sport on, about twice the size of Oahu. I go over there every now and then to surf and was looking forward to the SuperFerry service starting up but it looks like it's not going to happen[&:].

I've been on the beach most of the day, its pretty windy out but I'm starting to feel like **** myself. I've got wireless in our condo we're staying at so I'm on the balcony sipping corona, getting rays and listening to the waves. I think the Mrs and I ate something bad this morning. I am having a blast though we took the helicopter tour around the island, its insane. checked out the aquarium yesterday, and carls jr (we dont have those)

i would do anything to spend a week here just DS'ing it. I see all these guys riding scooters around and just shake my head.

Does the KLX250 swingarm have a grease fitting? If not, what would be involved in adding one txcept drilling & taping a hole?
