Luggage rack or case for 2009 KLX-205S?

On my 700 mile trip to Vancouver Island I'm sure I had more that 50 lbs on the rack, and we were riding on rough roads. While it didn't break, I'm sure I didn't do it any favors.

Just check out the rear carrier tube. The closer to rear seat the greater load capacity. Beyond rear seat there is no more support, just two thin tube hanging out without support under it. It is not good idea to extend the original tube length unless it is for light load.

I've been real pleased with my rack from Turbo City, have loaded it down pretty good,I think about 25 lbs. an had no issues. pictures on my photobucket link.

Mine can hold 3-MSR (33oz) bottles and is attached to the rack by Velcro so it can "break-away" if you dump the bike and not sustain a back injury in the process.

Today at REI, the biggest MSR bottle I see is 30oz.

OK, It is the same things, From their marketing jaron:

30 fl. oz. bottle = 7.3 oz. (full capacity is 33 fl. oz.)

Reviving this old thread.

Any updated thoughts on this set-up? I'm thinking about attaching a Pelican case to my 250SF but wanted more recent thoughts on this method.

I have never seen this thread before. Maybe I didn't go that far back when I joined. I would love to get one of these on my bike. This is an older thread so are these box's still available. If so where?
