lowering links: Kouba or Ebay guy or?
Hey everyone, long time no post. After an 8 month hiatus I'm back on my KLX again. When last I left off the suspension was the next upgrade for me. First order is to lower it a hair, then replace front fork springs to my weight. My question is...did the arguement of whether it was better to spend the money for Kouba's 0.75" link or save the money and go ebay guy 1" link ever get solved? Money is always an option, but I'm more concerned about geometry and saftey. Is there another source for the links?
I guess that I should lay out my whole plan...lower, then upgrade the front springs to equal rear (I'm 200lbs), then upgrade to one of those really nice seats that nobrakes has (name?). Is this flawed logic?

that seat is a renazco(?) they're huge money though, $300 or thereabouts.

I like mine. Makes those longer trail connections a bit more bearable, especially at the end of the day when you're riding home after a full day of hitting the dirt.

If you go for lowering links, best to raise the forks in the triple clamps to keep the balance right.
Or the steering will be slower. (could be a benefit for extended road use i guess)
The most you will get is 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch.
Firming up the front springs and possibly increasing rear preload to balance may negate the effect of the links.
IMHO links are a bit of a copromise but work ok for what they are.
After much messing around I resolved the issue once and for all.

Id try to avoid the links if at all possible, even if it means running more sag than you should with the stock links, at least then it wont alter the rate of the rest of the shock travel.

I have been using the Kouba links with no problems I set the sag and slid the forks up about 3/4 " I also used bar risers to help with my bad back.....
