Question Lowering 2010 KLXs dual sport

Hello,

Great forum with tons a cool riders and great info. New to this website, I purchased a 2010 KLXs, I' am short rider 5'7" and want to be able to plant my fleet flat on the ground. 70% rides dirt, 30% on streets. Is there any lowering kits out there or is there any way I can lower the bike, without compromising the geometry and stability of the bike. Any info. is greatly appreciated. By the way, you guys have some nice pictures in this website.

shave the seat if you don't want to affect the geometry and ride...

or, longer dog bones ($25) to drop it an inch and raise fork an inch...adjust suspension after...

Hi, I'm planning to get a klx and will have to lower it, too. Interested in others' experiences (not from tall people who say don't do it). Besides dog bones, what seats do people recommend? Corbin?

Same height as you and same problem when bike was new. Tried shaving the seat which helped but made the seat more uncomfortable than it already was. Installed 2" Kouba Links, flat foot no problem but gave up lots of suspension travel and can no longer carry a passanger as chain roller rubs on chain every bump. Installed Seat Concepts short option seat foam & cover, much more comfortable and much lower than stock. Going to remove Kouba link when I can dig the shed out and try @ stock height again. If It's still not low enough I will try 1" drop Kouba Link. Also dropped fork in tripple clamp as far as possible. Hope this helps,

Seat Concepts link:

Not sure if the "lowerd" version is listed in the KLX250S section or if you have to contact them for that option.
