Default Low oil-add more or change completely?

Actually did a full TCLOCS before riding today, and noticed low oil. Not sure how many miles it's been. Do I just need to add more or do I need to do a complete oil change? I do not appear to be leaking any. I'll check the mileage in the morning...Thanks!

Wow! I've decided I'm just going to go ahead and change it. What type of oil filter and oil should I use? I'm going to assume the dealer wasn't using synthetic, and I just want to go with the old fashioned stuff for now. I know this might cause a huge oil discussion, but really, just your basic suggestion for a newbie would be great!

I've never changed the oil on any vehicle before, I trust this is pretty easy?
