looks slick to me- ie. bad when you want grip around your thighs. I also like the matching oem. I never knew a seat could be such a huge deal to some. I wish I had $300+ to spend on something you sit on and pretty much has no merit to the way a bike performs. To each his own as I always say though as I simultaneously express my unwanted (but still read) opinions around here.

The second one is so I can use it with my smaller stock tank. Unfortunately the two KTM tanks I have require different seats. When I ride where the good singletrack is I'm a good hour on the pavement and that kills me on the 2x4 seat. Off-road has never been a problem - can ride all day long on the 2x4 seat with no problem at all. It's the pavement that gets unbearable. To me it's money well spent.

Dual sporting is a trade-off. Generally it's road comfort vs off-roadability. A seat from Renazco Racing does a lot to bridge that gap to road comfort without giving up one ounce of off-roadability. As tremor said, they are built for enduro / rally racing. Mine is not soft, on the contrary it is rather firm. The key I think is that they rebuild from the pan up to support you where you need it and help distribute your weight better and more evenly instead of right on hot spots. But it is also thin/narrow where it needs to be so you can scoot up onto the tank when cornering and it's just like a dirt bike seat. That's the reason these seats are so popular. They work.

First positive comment Ive heard from you! Kudos!

If you spend any serious time in the saddle, the difference between a horrible ride and one that enjoyable is all in the seat!

LOL, I've bought and sold three bikes in the last twelve months- DUDE!! So tell me then, since you "have over 6000 miles on your KLX", does that make you better than people who don't? What kind of statement is that? Are you nowin some sort of special riders group that all of a sudden makes you a better rider once you hit the6000 mile plateau? Also, if you really love costa rica so much, why don't you just move down there? Why would I want to go there? I'm quite happy here in the midwest thanks. It's cheap, voted the nicest place to raise a family, has lots of activities, did I mention how cheap it is to live here? Oh, and the #15, 20-1 Drake Bulldogs are right here in Des Moines. Why don't you take a vacation to Iowa?

I would definitely see your point if more of my time was spent off-road.

While it's true thatadding this seatnets nomerit in the performance of the bike, there isdefinitely a difference in MY performance on that bike when I don't have to focuson the excruciating pain in my azz during longer rides on the slab.

The seat isnot for everbody, but for those who log alot of pavment miles, it'sworth considering.

Tremor,

I can see how that would be a highly desireable mod, seeing as your bike is primarily motard usage. That seat is nothing short of gorgeous. never thought I would say that over something as basic as a seat. However if I'm doing long miles on pavement my only complaint would be the seat.

Once the shop is remodeled i'd love to see a side by side comparison of thestocker and Renazcoto get a better idea of where he has moulded and shaped the seat. I will be back in Thailand intwo monthsand there I can modify a seat for next to nothing, in an attempt at a Renazco knockoff.

How much firmer is the foam on the Renazco over stock?

Yeah, I'll definitely get some comparison photos and data. The seat feels slightly firmer than stockwhen I press on it with my hands. I'll have to actually install it and plant my butt on it to know for sure though. From what I understand, James uses at least two different types of foam.To the naked eye, thereseems to beadded depth and width in the area where you sit down.

One important thing to note though...A veryimportant piece of info Renazco uses to buildthe 'compression' valueof your seat is 'riding weight.'I weigh about 150lbssoaking wet, so the seatwill be very comfortable for me, but won't be for somebody who weighs, say, 180-200lbs. Same goes for somebody of my weight jumping onRenazco seat built for abig, 'corn fed' guy. I have heardthis fromJames Renazco and from people who have bought his seats second handwithout being aware ofthat.Seat compressionand ergos aremore important to Renazco becausetheyendeavor to keep the enduro seat shape vs going for the big, wide owl butt shape.I guess what I'm trying tosay is that is it might be easy to replicate the shape of the seat and to firm it up some, but I think you might fall a bit short in the comfort department.

Thenagain, one should neverunderestimate the resourcefulness of somebodywho has the knowledge and wants to earn some extra baht.
