Wow! That sounds a lot more fun that what I got planned. I'm installing 400 sqft of laminate flooring and painting a bedroom and installing Direct TV in 4 rooms. Wanna trade?

Last two pics from the picasa album are from me reassembling the Frame, Triple Tree, Forks, Swing Arm, Shock, and all the suspension linkages.

I annotated the work I did (the bearings) and the work I plan to start this coming weekend.

I still need to finish painting the Sub Frame and clean the engine and paint it this week.

I only put about 15 hours on this bike before it got stolen. There's no telling how much abuse it saw in the hands of that scumbag thief.

I'd hate to get the bike restored only to have it seize a main bearing or break a piston from the abuse it saw, so I have decided that even though the bike is currently pulling very good compression, it's time to take the top end off and check it before I put the Yammy back together.

That's going to require, at a minimum, gaskets for a top-end job.

Any preferences on gasket suppliers? I have it narrowed down to Cometics and Moose because they both seem to put out a quality product at a reasonable price.

Anyone run into any horror stories using either Mfgr's kits?

Considering the age of the bike, it may be wise to just plan on doing top & bottom anyway so I'll be buying the complete top & bottom end kit with oil seals in case I have to split the case and do a bottom end on it.

 

Cometic seems to be the gasket maker of choice on the 450r forum and those guys build alot of engines. Don't know about Moose. I think Bill B is also providing cometic with his BB kits.
