Lookin for GPS suggestions
I ride alone, some of the trails up here are all over the place. Half the time I don't have any idea where i'm at. I'm currently using my cheap hunting GPS which will show where i've been, but I would like something that I can download the maps into and beable to see where i'm at on the trail. I was riding the othe day and ran into a group of people and they had a gps that was kinda like a Tom Tom. It showed where he was at and the corners coming up, along with the near by roads. He said it was made by gamin, but can't remember the model. He said it was 50 bucks. I'm lookin for something kinda cheap, but I know what I want and it's probably goin to cost alot. Any suggestions on a gps. I'm planning on downloading from vvmapping.com

I have had really good luck with a lot of Garmins over the years. My personal is the GPSmap 76. It's "large" compared to many others, but that's because it's designed to float, and I have a tendency to drop things in water. I think price for it is closer to $100.
Look for a model that you can load in Garmin's MapSource topo maps, or another brand with similar capabilities. The maps help out great.

The 76, I now see, is a discontinued model.
Look over these:
Products > GPS for the Trail > Mapping Handheld

This is what I use. Garmen eTrex Legend. It has a handlebar mount but I usually just leave it in my backpack. It will locate and track just fine from inside your pocket or backpack. You can get the color screen for $150 or the b&w for $100. The only thing I would note is that you will want to additionally purchase the Topographical Map package. The level of detail is high. It shows every stream, swamp, unmaintained road - everything.
Another option is an Andriod phone with Google maps, but it's not as accurate, kills your battery, doesn't have the features the Garmin has.
