Long ride = sore ass

Long ride = sore ***
Today was the first time I was able to take the bike out for a long ride. After a few hours I was really feeling it. I don't recall the seat being so firm on my previous street bikes. Will I get used to this the more I ride the bike or should I look at an after market seat? If so, any recommendations?

No, you won't.
It does make it easy though to stop often and enjoy the scenery.
I usually just stand up while cruising for a few minutes if I have a long ride. You look silly doing it but it does help.
Better seats help a little bit but cost a lot of money.

I would contend that if you have a saddle that works really well for long pavement rides...it won't be that great for real off roading...and vice versa. In your post you state that the KLX seat is firmer than anything on your previous road bikes. That's the issue. The KLX shouldn't have a real road bike saddle to be a true dual sport. And there's the rub on just about any of these dual sport bikes. People are going to use them in various ways, and you may have to find an alternate saddle or some other compromise like Big Sky suggested. I find the KLX saddle to be a very decent off road saddle, but then that's where I ride mine most of the time.

LOL!...you know...now that you mention it, maybe that's why I think the KLX saddle is good.

As an ex-bicycle racer, I like firmer seats...such as the Corbin. If I'm going to be on a very long ride, I wear the padding in my shorts...bicycle shorts. The problem with too many seats is they are TOO SOFT, so, the material chafes areas that aren't used to being chafed. As long as the seat is wider than the distance between the outer surfaces of your ischeal tuberocities, it's wide enough. The Corbin is plenty wide for me. YMMV.

Done a shade over 300 miles in one day (14 hours) 95 % was trail with lotsa whoops, rocks, and potholes...... I used to love the rare smooth stretch where I could sit down and actually rest my legs a bit. Man, does the seat seat feel oh so comfy then!
