Nice. Did you do anything else to the suspension? How did the raising links affect the feel? And what hand guards do you have? I like the scorp skid plate. Welcome to KF.

My 250 is currently my only bike, sold my streetbike last summer and haven't really missed it. Having said that I do intend on ordering a 351kit real soon. I think it'll be a good do all bike for me after that. Then suspension, second set of wheels with more street oriented rubber, and lastly/possibly a pumper carb.

New klx250s, new rider .....awesome
Just picked up a black and white '14 KLX250s. I have put about 30 miles on it, so far i am very happy with my purchase. I am also a brand new rider. I have owned ATVs but never a bike. I have always wanted a 600 class sport bike since i was a little kid, but i tend to go as fast as things will go and i figured that would lower my chances of living by a lot so i went with the dual sport 250.
I got this bike to ride on the street (no highway) and to be able to ride trails with my friends who have ATVs, Side by sides and other bikes. Im not too big (175) and this is my first bike, so i feel like this is a good place to start.
I have had the thing for two days and this is what i have done so far:
-Took off all the stickers
-Remounted the plate vertically near the chain
-Cut off extra black plastics in the rear, all the way up to the bottom of the tail light.
Would like to put some pure street tires on it eventually. I am going to search a bit for more info on this. In the mean time...any suggestions on other mods to do? free mods are great, like i said im a new rider so i dont know the ins and outs of riding motos yet, so any have-to-do things let me know.
Thanks!

Also thinking about:
-swapping head light bulb for a more white bulb. Need to figure out what type of bulb they are.
-mounting some kind of small mirror under the handlebars since i took my stock mirrors off. May try to fabricate a mount and use part of the stock mirror.
-in the way future, Studded tires to ride on the ice.
Like i said, any riding advice or bike advice is appreciated.
Thanks!

2010 KLX250s with mods
Since buying my KLX early 2013 (got a great deal $4,000 with only 500miles on it, looked brand new) I've replaced the stock handlebars with MSR bars, Moose Hand guards, lowered with 1.75 lowering link (I'm only 5'4"), Moose skid plate, FMF Q4 with Megabomb header and DRC Edge2 Tail light kit. I think that's it…..The bike has been awesome to learn on and the new exhaust has given it the extra power I was looking for, now that I have been riding for longer. Looks great without all the heavy stock plastics on the tail, Kawasaki need to ditch all that!
