Let The MODS Begin !
After reading the comments provided here by BMWHD and a16tony, I have decided to go ahead and order some parts in preparation for doing some performance upgrades to my KLX250S.
The order has been called in and here is what I ordered from Ron Ayers:
Part Number: 14073-1577 Description: DUCT,INLET Price: $22.07
Part Number: 92063-1069 Description: MAIN JET,2ND,#125 Price: $6.14
Part Number: 92063-1074 Description: MAIN JET,2ND,#128 Price: $6.14
Part Number: 16009-1912 Description: NEEDLE-JET,N1TC Price: $15.67
I will be calling Dual-Star later today and ordering the PBI PO45-013 13 tooth front sprocket. I'm going to hold off for right now on getting a 45 tooth rear sprocket, but I do think that is in my future.
BMWDH had a 122 jet in the bike, but recently switched to a 125 and noticed an improvement in power. a16tony has been running a 125 and recently switched to a 128. For right now, I'm going with the 125 and seeing how it works. Hey, a jet is pretty reasonable from Ron Ayers.
Once the parts come in, I'll be starting my changes.
Here is what I intend to do:
1.) 13t C/S sprocket. - PBI PO45-13
2.) Pilot air screw out 2.5 turns. NO COST MOD! (the carb will be off to change jets & needle)
3.) Slide vent hole drilled out to 7/64ths. NO COST MOD!
5.) pre-'06 KLX300 49 state needle (N1TC) with clip in slot 2 from the top. - 16009-1912
6.) #125 Main Jet. - 92063-1069
7.) Air box snorkel replaced and turned toward the rear of the bike. - 14073-1577
8.) 1/2" hole drilled in the first baffle plate in the muffler. NO COST MOD!
No, I will NOT be keeping track of all the costs here. There is NEVER a paper trail of costs maintained on bike mods, parts, pieces or accessories at my house! That is information that can used against you for many things! Don't do it. And also forget how much it costs as that can be gotten out of you with a lot of beer and some pseudo affection. Let's be honest, we're weakest when drugged by beer and evocative offers of sex!
