Default Lean Pop cured

300 head pipe/exhaust
no lid
drilled slide
40 pilot
132.5 main
Replaced needle, third clip
2 1/2 turns out
epa equipment removed

Well I've been chasing my jetting for awhile and just couldn't get rid of a lean pop when I closed the throttle hard, had tried different settings with the fuel screw amongst other things. I had pretty much figured it out to be linked to the epa smog setup and had removed and plugged all openings or so I thought. After removal and test run a couple weeks ago the problem still existed and had me perplexed, took off the carb, cleaned jets thinking something might be clogging the pilot, checked needle etc. etc.. Today I happened to be leaned over the bike and the plug I had put on the fitting at the front of the motor wasn't right, allowing air to get past(pushed out or sucked in depending on throttle). Got it properly plugged, no more lean pop, in fact no deceleration pop and quite honestly more power, if anything I might be a spinch on the rich side now.

Just thought I would share for if anybody else might be having a similar situation..............TW

Glad to hear you found the problem. In the future, if you do an "air" plugging job, you can use starting fluid sprayed on all of your plugs etc. while the engine is running. If you have an air leak your rpm will climb when you spray in that area.
