Leaf River DS ride 2010 RIDE REPORT
Man am I sore!! 4+ hrs of hard riding in the woods is a rude wake up call after laying around doing nothing all winter. Another great Leaf River ride yesterday, put on by the Forrest City riders club, (http://www.forestcityriders.com/) Huge thank you to the club, and to the generous land owners that allow the club to use their land. This 35 mile course, with the exception of about 3-4 gravel road miles, is all on private land. Amazingly cool to me the land owners allow the club, or more importantly ME and 180 other strangers from out of town on dirt bikes with big knobbies, to ride as fast as they want through spots they can barely fit, on their property. The club doesn't, and probably couldn't, pay to use this land. The club does donate the money they make on the event to the local volunteer fire dept. To me it's just cool that something like this can be pulled off in a day and age when people are rewarded for their own stupidity after spilling hot coffee on themselves.
The day turned out great, we had perfect conditions. Mid 60degree temps and some terrain that had been watered down a week ago by mother nature to give some great riding conditions. I had put the word out about the ride to a couple local KFer's, baldie, and ryathis were both up to the challenge. I had also talked a co-worker into giving it a try. The three KFer's met up here at a local McyD's for a healthy breakfast. Baldie and I had not met ryathis before, but we knew it was him when a Ford ranger with a red KLX in the back showed up. He had to get up a little earlier to make the trip in from the Chicago suburbs. OK lets get moving, we still have about 25 miles to get to Leaf River. Cruising down route 2. This mirror shot probably looks funny, unless you live in the UK, Australia, or anywhere else where they drive on the wrong side of the road
All unloaded and shootin the sh't. My buddy from work has a Honda XR650L (the bike that has some parts that fit the KLX)
Riders meeting, "please don't wheelie down the county roads or rip up the spots where you go across someones yard"

You would need some help getting back on the trail if you took this a little wide.
New bridge, ( the old one in the background is the one a guy went off the side last fall)

Sounds like a great time. I wish there were DS rides like that up here.
The trails look in great shape too. Does anyone have any helmet cam videos that they will be posting? More pics would be great too. Thanks

Time to stop for a drink, and a little lunch.
Ibuprofen(because I'm already feeling it), water, and Reese's Easter candy mmmmmm the breakfast of champions.
The barbed wire a foot off from your handlebars is a welcome sight.
