Kustom Kraft 330 BB for sale
Kustom Kraft KLX 330cc big bore kit $500.
My loss is your gain. Tried to get my 2018 KLX fuel injected 250 with EJK tuner to run properly with 330 cc big bore but after 400 miles and many calls to Doebeck EJK I have given up and reinstalled the original 250 cylinder and piston. This big bore kit will work with all KLX 250 and 300 cc bikes with a carburetor. Complete kit minus top end gaskets. $900 new.

Sorry to hear that. A power commander could be tuned to work with a big bore kit. I personally would not use the EJK. It uses two parameters from a single input to make fuel correction, RPM and Injector Pulse Width (as a proxy for a load point). The user is given user adjustable parameters with no precise understanding of what the exact condition the user input effects. The power commander allows you to pick the exact point on the map based on RPM and TPS (same as alpha-n) to make adjustments. I put together a generic data logger from innovate to tune my bike (300 DS) when I removed the secondary throttle. Could easily do the same for a big bore. Or pay for dyno tuning, which is much more efficient and precise. But, a power commander can easily handle the job. There is a guy on youtube, and maybe here on the board JH, that did a power commander and a 351 kit. Power Commander works.

It's good information that the PC works but I feel like at that point it prices this whole thing out, no? $900 for the BB kit plus almost $300 for the PC and then another $100 for a data logger, or more for dyno tuning, is a ton of money to still end up with ultimately a low power bike.

The other issue is there are no middle of the road dual sports IMO. Somewhat subjective, but there seems to be a hole in the market. SWM is close on price I would imagine, but not readily available everywhere. I wonder if Kawi punched out the KLX to 350, revised the head a little to get in the 35 RWHP range, knocked 20 to 30 lbs off the bike and refined the suspension, got it to about 75%-85% of the current euro bike dirt capability, priced it at 7.5k, would it sell?
Not sure how many guys are on a budget, want really good dirt capability along with being a decent local street bike, and if the Japanese could hit that target? The 450RL by the accounts I have reviewed misses the mark. Too pricey, and too heavy for the price.
If someone is looking to upgrade to the 330 from the 250, along with some additional tuning, $500 is a great deal. Also, the fuel injection issues can be overcome. I just added another bike to the stable for doing harder off-road stuff, will keep my 300 for trail and street. If I was looking to add some more off-road capability to the KLX, this is a great deal.

The KK big bore gave more power and torque. My 2018 KLX in the 250 configuration was totally modded and had MCM so it ran good and decent power. This bike will never compete with euro bikes but it’s price is considerably less and low maintenance and bull it proof
