knocking noise in gear, fixed
Posting this as help if anyone else has this similar issue.
Had this for about for the last few weeks or two months... Maybe some of you remember me asking about it.
Noise Description
The noise was knocking only in gear and would happen while going up hills or heavy throttle on flat ground
almost sounded like spark knock or like I was into high gear with low revs.
Noise would NOT happen at idle or reving it in neutral.
Noise also was not apparent when I tried rolling down steep hills with the bike off.
Fix
I had the stock knobbies ..
the front was super tires were bald
I got new tires and it fixed the sound
Checklist
- I made sure it wasn't my cam chain tensioner (installed the manual)
- made sure the valves were in spec,
- my carb air fuel ratio is proper
- my chain was adjusted properly
- the shocks weren't leaking
- made sure all the fenders were tight
- made sure I had no vacuum leaks in the carb
- spark plug was good
- checked the air box
-checked to see if the knocking was not the motor by reving it in neutral
so if your tires look bald..you checked everything on this list and still have a mysterious knocking noise, tires might be the case and then obviously get new ones.
I figure the noise was coming from all the traction being at the back tire and causing something weird to happen with the engine or front tire idk its hard to tell.. It could have been the front tire because I would hear the noise coming from the front of the bike.
