Knobby front rear ds
#23
I think what concerns me about the proposed knobby front & slick rear setup is what would happen when braking hard on pavement and/or getting on the throttle in dirt.
There would just be too large a difference in available traction between the front and rear to modulate properly between the two, especially in panic situations when you want predictability.
I buy the concept of a relatively more aggressive knobby on the front if you are also running a dirt tire on the rear, but I wouldn't expect good performance from a knobby front paired with a slick rear.
Regardless, if you're determined, please try it out and post the results!

hehe, I have slicks right now and gun it in the dirt all the time, love the rear to brake out but having my front bounce around and slip like a wet balloon on the water is pretty sketchy. Good thoughts though, can't wait to give it a try and report back.
