KLX300S hits Moab.

LOL!...the key wording in my statement was "ate out"...in other words, restraurants, cafes, etc. I cook my meals with a trailer mounted propane bottle using either a small grill and/or my trusty Colemen dual burner stove. That's the beauty of vehicle camping with some storage mounted on the trailer. You can carry lots of good gear and food. I have coffee every morning with eggs-over-easy, sausage, hash browns, or similar menus to keep things interesting. Those truck boxes mounted to my trailer make perfect table tops. Moab's City Market has a great selection, and most days after most rides, you have time to drop in and pick up fresh meat and vegetables. I don't go hungry when I camp.

I'll tell you...one guy in our group was 65, and while he did drop his beastly KLR650 quite a few times in the gnarly sections, he kept right on going. I felt like I was cheating on the KLX250/300.

But I have noticed I tend to take less risks than I used too, well perhaps they are just a little more calculated than they used to be. I'm still faster than most but most definately a LOT slower than some.

Haha, I'm 44 so it's way too late for me. I just do what I can, which is not a whole lot. Best I seem to be able to manage right now is a mid-pack finish in C class. Nothing to brag about. lol But hey, I generally finish better than at least half the field, so that's good, depending on whether you are the half full or half empty sort. lol

punken, on the camping deal, mainly BLM and forest service land surround Moab. And while the feds have pushed people farther and farther away out from town to find accessible camping, it's still there in great amount. When I go to Colorado and Utah, I almost never pay for camping. It's still our land, and we should be able to camp for free if done responsibly. I don't need the rest rooms or other conveniences offered by pay locations. There's plenty of excellent gear to make primitive camping pretty darned comfortable if you dig around. Plus, you don't have to put up with the frequent loud asses in congretated campsites who have no consideration for their neighbors.

This is all good stuff I am going to Moab this weekend to ride for 4 days and I can hardly wait!!! I am going to cheat even more in the weight department, the KLX330 is staying in the garage and the KTM-200XC-w is coming with me on this trip. It will be great to hit all of the trails on the powered mtn bikee. HAHAHA
