The 3X M6 heatshield mountings looks exactly the same between the two.

The only difference I see is the KLX300 pipe projects back 1" more and flares out to a slightly larger diameter of 1.510" versus the 250's 1.383" diameter, to accept a larger diameter and 1" shorter muffler pipe.

There is really no volume difference in the two headers, until you get to the muffler clamp back.
Constructive comment: What you are able to do now will be fit one of the slip ons designed for the KLX300R. There is a slightly larger selection for that model and it can be a fair bit cheaper than a full system. If cost is an issue, stick it out until you find an OE KLX300R muffler. With the cap off it's an improvement over stock. No weight savings though but is is a lot more durable and will require no repacking. When I got my bike I would have stuck it out or a 300R muffler IF I knew I had a 300R header. (something new for the forum at the time.) The money is spent now and I couldn't be happier with the Two Brothers M7 slip on I purchased for less than $300.

+1 Search function sucks. Better than nothing, but not great. I just searched "high altitude" the first three threads that apparently fit that search are the Bent handlebar-new exhaust thread, the what engine oil do you use poll, and the HOTD sticky. Ooooh I haven't looked at the HOTD sticky in awhile, I guess search works ok.

Were you looking for handgliding photos?LOL
My guess is "jetting" would be a better search.
+1 on the HOTD thread.

I'm sure you could hanglide where I was headed. (none for me thanks LOL) I think I actually searched "High altitude jetting" when preparing for the trip to Colorado. "Jetting" was too broad. I think I ended up searching "colorado" because I knew I had read posts on getting bikes running right out there in the mountains.

From facts and numbers, to a lashing and counter lashing with cat-fight sounds...

This is an interesting place... I think....
