KLX300 Header Versus KLX 250S
I just received a KLX300 header pipe (stamped KHI E033) via craigslist, described as "about 6 years old."
I was suprised to find the pipe diameter to be the same as my `06 KLX250S header (stamped KHI E045), 1.255" on the OD in the straight section.
The 3X M6 heatshield mountings looks exactly the same between the two.
The only difference I see is the KLX300 pipe projects back 1" more and flares out to a slightly larger diameter of 1.510" versus the 250's 1.383" diameter, to accept a larger diameter and 1" shorter muffler pipe.
There is really no volume difference in the two headers, until you get to the muffler clamp back.

LOL, and you were WHERE the last two months this has been hashed to death? I don't know why people think the 300 header is so much larger than the 250. It isn't, as you found out, it's the same exact tiny header that is a bit longer for the 300 muffler which is what you should buy now as well to reap the benefits of the 300 muffler which is actually a good piece if you want a cheap slip-on.

Einfarht. Welcome to the boards. You'll have to excuse muffler king here. He obviously is too blind to see your brand new to the boards. You just registered in September and have 12 posts and hes asking where you were the past 2 months. Smart.
Anyway. Yeah.. I too thought the 300 header was larger because I saw several people stating it was. Then after bringing it up in conversation many people jumped in to state that no, it actually isn't any better. And since there is no hard written authority to read this stuff, because its all word of mouth travel...how is anyone suppose to know for sure? However the 300 silencer is, and since the header is slightly longer you can't match up a 300 can to a 250 header. Therefore, you have to purchase the whole thing just to put the 300 can on. Once you have that on, if you so choose you can either take the end cap off or put another one on as well increasing flow even more.

the search function is there for a reason- so people don't find things out the hard way. and as far as nothing being in stone, untrue. the search function holds invaluable info. that people post as fact. call me muffler king all you want, but you're still a newbie that doesn't even know how to take out a spark plug. lol
at least I know what exhausts will work and what ones won't on the KLX. if that makes me the 'muffler king' to you, I guess, I can imagine what I could think of to call you on your knowledge of the KLX. first word would sound like- NAIVE.

Good god, the search function actually sucks **** sometimes, ya know?
There's so much drivel and crap to sort through on some of the "authoritative" threads on certain subjects, you can't go giving someone crap for a legit, yet already answered question.
We need new and better stickies.
