KLX300 gas tank?
Hi, I can see comments on ims, acerbis and clarke tanks in different treads here but my question is: did anybody try a stock klx300 tank on a klx250s (06-07)? Does it fit better or same as a clarke?

Wow!...I'm guessing one would only buy one of these tanks used. I just noticed that a new KLX300 tank with absolutely nothing else on it costs about $500. Factor in shrouds and some other incidentals...
As long as the 300 was around, I guess that wouldn't be too hard to find a used one with shrouds.

That can be a problem around some parts of town. Steel gas tank is required to be street legal. Thou most do not really care.

I have had a couple officers really eye my bike but I've never been stopped. I have the big Acerbis plastic 3.7 gallon tank. Around here they are more apt to check that the tires are DOT. I only run DOT tires so I dont have to worry about that one.

The use of steel tanks on street registered motorcycles is not required. Your newer Husky's and KTM street legal models have plastic tanks that are legal. There is some debate about new laws coming out for manufacturers concerning the type of plastic that can be used in these gas tanks as it relates to emisisons, not safety. Some plastic tanks allegedly allow too much fuel vapor to escape through the pores of the plastic. Allegedly the plastic fuel tanks in most automobiles today don't allow the passage of those vapors. Perhaps Husky and KTM use this type of plastic. This is a manufacturer consideration at this time and not a problem for an individual.
