KLX250s with KDX exhaust....

KDX pipe
I may try the stock pipe this weekend....though I have a feeling that the KDX pipe DID open the bike up a little. From the seat of the pants feel I get from the bike it seems as though it pulls a little stronger than what others have described on an unmodified KLX. A little pipe test this weekend will sort it out. The guy I bought it from rode it about 2,000 miles and has considerable dirt and street experience....and noticed an improvement. I wouldn't have chosen to shoehorn the KDX pipe on...but to each his own (I assume he had a KDX pipe and some time on his hands.) At the very least, you can't say it can't be done, and you can't say that the bike runs poorly with it on. It runs and starts very well.
I know little about 2-strokes....what's the difference in the pipe between a 2-stroke and a 4-stroke?

Didn't you see it from the pic OZ posted?
I assume we MUST be talking about the silencer/can here, because theres no way you have the header on.

2-Stroke vs. 4 Stroke Exhaust
Let's be sure we are clear about this.
The attached pictures below identify KDX 2-Stroke Exhaust and KLX 4-Stroke Exhaust.
Notice the header on 2-Stroke is HUGE compared to the 4-strokes small pipe.
Ed179 ARE YOU SURE YOU HAVE A 2-STOKE HEADER ON THE KLX???
This is VERY unusual. If in fact you are somehow running a 2-stroke pipe on your KLX you are probably going to get some weird performance values off that puppy and certainly would not sound like a correct Thumper should.
Your best bet is to go back to the stock exhaust until you upgrade to a correct after-market 4-stroke system (Like Muzzy, FMF or 2-Bros).

Stock exhaust back on
Well, I put the stock can back on last night....raining too hard to ride though. It did seem a tad bit more reluctant to start.....I will hopefully have a chance to ride tonight and post some results. If anything the KDX can was substantially lighter than the stock one.
