Default KLX250s with KDX exhaust....

Hello!

My first post here. I bought a 2006 KLX250s about a month ago with a KDX exhaust and snorkel on it. It appears that some modifications were done on the midpipe to fit the KDX exhaust. Any advice on jetting? The jetting is stock according to the previous owner. The bike seems to run well, though it does 'burble' a little bit when letting off the throttle; it seems as though it is just on the edge of backfiring. Gas mileage is still very good at around 65 and the power is adequate but, I wonder if I could find some power with adequate jetting. Anyone have any advice? Any thoughts on the KDX pipe?

Thanks!

No doubt you can benefit by jetting. Also, did the prev. owner de-restrict it at all? Remove snorkel etc...? I bet it sounds pretty sweet! I'm still all stock after 1 year and 3,000 miles. I am getting over 72 MPG. I believe a properly jetted KLX with good airflow get's around 50 MPG.

Default Sound and snorkel

Well, the sound is o.k....better than stock I would imagine, but still not a very deep tone. The snorkel was replaced with one from the KDX too. I haven't tried running it without the snorkel or without the airbox lid, but I might try that this weekend.

Try a 13t ft sprocket too. Taking the airbox lid off will lean it out considerably which means rejet before any riding.

OK, no one else caught this?.............KDX exhaust???????????? Did I miss something here, because I'm hoping I did. The KDX is a 2 stroke and the KLX is a 4 stroke. They have TOTALLY different exhaust systems.......TOTALLY!!

A 'spannie' on a four stroke. Now there's an idea. ROFLMAO.

Now that's in the top of five most beautiful pictures you've ever posted on this site WestOz.

Default 2-stroke exhaust

Nope, you're not missing anything...it's a 2 stroke exhaust. The pipe appears to be identical to the one in the KDX pic WestOz posted. I believe the header is the stock KLX250s and some work was done to the midpipe to make it fit.

Strangled! The taper must be the wrong way from the header to the muffler. WTF Performance! I don't think so. Who let the redneck loose with the arc welder. LOL.
