KLX250S Drive away price
The best price I have found so far for 2007 model is around $4675 which equates to exactly $5100.00 drive away. I have also been quoted over $5600.00 from other dealers. What are prices like elsewhere. I will probably buy for the $5100.00.

RE: KLX250S Drive away price
I bought my 2007 KLX250S on Saturday (01/20/2007) at MotoAdventure Kawasaki in Fort Collins, CO
Here's the itemized bill:
Bike: $4500.00
Credit Card Fee: $90.00
CO sales tax $133.11
Total: $4723.11 out the door
I still need to pay for licensing though. If I had paid cash, they would have dropped the $90 credit card fee, but I wanted the miles.
I emailed them initially and they quoted my $4500 with no fees. I think that having several feet of snow on the ground might have had something to do with the price.

RE: KLX250S Drive away price
It seems that the going price for the 2007 KLX250S is about $200.00 -$300.00 under list or about $4600.00. As long as the dealer only charges what he has to leagally above that price; which is, sales tax, title, inspection sticker etc. In Texas at $4600.00 it ends up at $5025.00. Drive away. Some dealers only get about two per year so they try and make as much as they can on the few that they get.
Some other dealers try to charge dealer prep, freight etc.which can add $500.00 or more to the drive away price. One dealer told me that unless I purchased the bike there they would not work on it, thats about stupid, after that statement I would not go there for tee shirt, same dealer had all these crazy upcharges.
As far as a 2006, it would seem that a 2007 should be worth $500-$700 more.
I guess I will go for the $5100.00 drive away, and perhaps suggest they provide a nice helmet at cost.
Any suggestions as to helmets, there are a million to choose from from $80.00 to $500.00, I would assume one should spend at least $250.00 to get a quality helmet, my heads worth $250.00 on a good day.
I bought a Joe Hauler direct from factory, ups model. I will post my impression of same.

RE: KLX250S Drive away price
I bought my brand new '06 in April for $4675 otd. The '07's are $100 higher because they raised the price although the bike is unchanged except for it's horrific graphics imo. If you can find an '06 it's a better buy since it's initially cheaper and it looks better as far as graphics. I'm sure there are some holdovers somewhere. I used Kawasaki good times and they didn't charge me any fee for using the card. Tax, title, license is what I paid. $4399 was the cost of the bike. I got no payments, no interest, and nothing down for 6 months. Basically I applied for the credit at Kawasaki's website and got approved. Then made the deal over the phone with the owner of the shop with a quoted otd price, walked in and inspected the bike as it was fresh out of the crate like I requested. It was perfect as expected. Then signed some papers and loaded her up in the truck and left. It took maybe 20 minutes and I didn't give them one cent.
As far as helmets go, just make sure it's snell approved and you're good to go. HJC makes good, qualityaffordable helmets. Shoei and Arai will be the highest priced helmets, but really anymore you're just paying for their name. A Shoei street bike helmet saved my life in '96 (X-9 Air Beattie replicea- $600) but there are other competent helmets on the market now that are just as good. Here's the link to the helmet I have that I wear when I read my 250S KLX. It's an HJC AC-X3 in green, silver, black, white. It's a really well built helmet and first rate fit, comfort, and paint quality. The price I paid was way under $250, it was like $170 shipped. Also I forgot to mention Bell as they make some real nice MX helmets and aren't expensive either. I had a Bell Moto4 helmet when I use to race, I still have it but my head has swollen since I was 18 and it's rather small. The Moto series will be the highest Bell, but the other models are snell approved and look nice as well. The HJC I bought just matched my bike the best and it is real neat in person, plus HJC has sold more helmets in the US than any other manufactuer in the last ten years. That says something right there imo. Not that they are the best or worst, but people trust their product.

RE: KLX250S Drive away price
Here in N.J. I got ripped, I paid $6100 out the door for a 2007 klx 250.
I paid $2 something for prep
I paid $2 something for delivery
I paid $300 for a4 year warranty
I paid $4799 for bike
Plus tax plates title...........
BUT I made them throw in a FREE $200 helmet....I got them
There was absolutley no negotiating here......AND I happen to be an auto wholesaler....so I do know how to haggle........
I just signed on the dotted line and pay 7.9% interest........of course as soon as taxes come in, this will pay off the bike and some other stuff!!!
Bottom line.......I couldn't be happier.......off road- on road in a flash......PURE FUN!!
Can you really put a price on that???
I know some will frown, but I'm a positive person with a somewhat impulsive buying attitude, I see it, I want it....I BUY it!!!!!!!!! I very rarley try to haggle or penny pinch unless it has to do with my business.
Stay Safe and Have fun Life is FAR TOO SHORT!!!!
