KLX250S as an adventure bike

It would be a lot easier riding a 1200 at 75mph than a 250, I don't think the little thing could do 65 going uphill around here. The just of my comment, is you need to focus on a target, doing 75 on the hywy is not one of them.

Thanks for your input,I own several bikes myself and was always looked for the lightest possible setups. That's why I fell in love with KLX. My wife is starting on TTR125 , my kid on TTR110. The KLX is for me basically , I wanted street legal capable of dirt, but then I figured I NEED MORE POWER . I was impressed how flickable this bike is and then though about my wife riding it as well.

It's not that I need that much speed, I can survive with 65 as well. It is just nice to have more in case you need it. The speed is needed on highways, the dirt is the whole different story though.

Well, most of us have heard about the guy who drove across a large segment of the U.S. on a lawn tractor, so just about anything is possible if you're willing to suffer through it.
I love my KLX. I've driven across a lot of the U.S. on a motorcycle. I wouldn't do it on a KLX250 if I really wanted to enjoy the trip. We all know the old sexual innuendo joke..."size really does matter". I think in the case of a real adventure bike, maybe size really does matter. People's definition of "adventure bike" can also vary greatly. I think of a bike that is capable of hauling a load of gear to allow camping at "real", sustained highway speeds for hours or days on end...and provide the rider a comfortable cockpit at the same time. I just don't see that on my KLX.

I remember watching that movie. It was something! On KLX though, I'll probably need to uncork it first and then I'll see what I can do about it. Initially I was looking for WR, but KLX deal came across and couldn't refuse it. My whole idea about 250 cc bike is that it should be doable to make it in to great adventure off-on road beast. And I'm not so attached to KLX or 250cc, probably weight of it.

Those pics are my kind of riding.... except I usually set up a base camp with my trailer. That would be a good setup for the contential divide.
Is that rear tire DOT? That would be hard to handle at 75, but 75 is not my thing!

Speaking of movies, if you're into a classic, look up Cycle South on netflix. Now that's a little old school dual sporting.
