KLX250S as an adventure bike
Hi guys,
I'm new here, bought 2006 klx with ~2000 miles few weeks ago. I was wandering what would you mode on this bike to make it go anywhere kind-a bike.
What I'm looking for is :
MORE Power !!! (mpg friendly), current set is way underpowered. My TTR125 pulls better with carb jet !
Suspension with the ability to lower for shorter rider ( my wife is 5'5)
Exhaust-not too loud,Center stand,Seat, Tank, Crash guards, skid plates,Wind protection,12v outlet
your input would be really appreciated
Rob

Welcome.
you're on the right track.
skidplate if you're bouncing through the rocks
pipe and rejet for a couple more hp and torque. most all aftermarket pipes are louder. it's a sacrifice. there are good reviews here with search. if you really want power, do a big bore kit. most bang for the bucks.
suspension if you find that its needed. the bike is sprung for about 150 lb rider.
you can lower by shaving the seat and/or lowering links. there's a recent thread on just that.
I don't know of anyone who's put on a center stand.
Several radiator guard, tank, etc options.
Spend some time in the FAQ sticky above https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...A%2A%2A-20710/, and look for the NEW FAQ link in the FAQ thread https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...q-links-30733/.

This one, the Minimalist Touring Thread:
Minimalist Touring Thread (250cc and under) - ADVrider
I think if your wife is a novice, you should expect it's going to be a while and take a lot of seat time before she's comfortable doing much 70 - 75 mph freeway cruising on the KLX. Hell, I don't feel very comfortable riding that speed on it for long distances down the freeway. It can be done and I do it, but it certainly isn't a pleasure ride that I'd look forward to doing every day, miles on end.
That said, I happily spend all day on it riding trails, dirt and gravel roads, and slower paved backroads where I'll bump up to those higher speeds.
