KLX250S 2012 Shift lever
#4
I had the MSR lever... ended up replacing it with a stock XR650 lever from fleabay. The MSR lever is very stiff. There are many reports of it transferring damage to the shift components in the case if you crash on the left side. The stock lever will bend. I imagine many folks are running the MSR without issue, I just decided I did not want to take the chance. The stock XR650 lever works great for me.

Other option if you or a friend can weld - cut the shifter and weld in a piece to lengthen it...
But I also understood the XR650L shifter works and is maybe longer. Go measure one to see if it is longer. Many shifters run the same size/count splines, which are usually standard sizing.
Just avoid getting too strong a shifter. Shifters are easy to bend back and cheap to replace versus a broken shift shaft or other damage in the mechanism.

Maybe try a stock XR650L lever, or aluminum aftermarket one. Something that is kinda flimsy. It sucks to bend a shifter, but - trust me - it sucks a lot more to break the shaft from the motor.
