Is the KLX250 the biggest money-pit bike ever?

The KLX isn't a money pit, there is just so much cool stuff for it. It's like a Jeep or Ford Mustang, simple, great and for the masses but tons of stuff to personalize or fine tune it how you see fit. I will say the 3 best mods IMHO would be Speedodrd, DJ kit and IMS tank...that's almost how it should be from the factory.

I have been riding over 40 years and have had many bikes. I don't care what bike it was, I always looked to make it better, faster, cooler. My KLX is no different. If you don't have the same passion for your KLX; perhaps your passion is fishing, golf, skiing hunting etc... Whatever your interest is will get your money.

Maybe we can get some stickers made to put sideways on the number plate that say "If you can read this, stand me back up!" Or maybe some for the front fender that say "It's a KLX thing, you wouldn't have a clue."

I thought about highly modding my klx...351, pumper, cam, porting, kx fork swap, shock upgrade, etc...then I found an old, low mile ktm rxc 400, added some odds and ends. Now I have a bike no amount of money thrown at the klx will match, plus it fits my 6'2" butt a bit better..
The klx is a great bike, but if you want more, sell it and buy something else....

No sh-t Sherlock.
I'm thinking most here know that. But I'm betting you're going to spend some money on it. I see where guys are changing carbs, adding bark busters, having suspension valved to suit them on their various KTMs. It seems they do the same thing too. Lots of threads about it on the ADVrider forum. Seems perfection isn't perfection in every way, no matter what the bike may be.
Ya gotta play... at least most of us do, regardless of what the bike may be.

Depends if you're looking for a vehicle to get you around or a hobby. I can get a KLX for $3-4K and have some fun tinkering and riding, or look for a KTM for twice the price. Depends on your thre$hold for pain.

Great idea in fact just set em all up for Texas I don't know I got the bike at a good price. Spent a little, grand or so, setting it up like I wanted. Tank, seat, pegs, etc and still came out less than a fancy roundel or orange color would have cost me. It takes me down most any road I want to go on and puts a smile on my face doing it. So yeah I consider it money well spent. After all man's got to have a hobby.
