KLX250 = Mr Versatile (Ride Report)
Sorta the opposite to the MBS posts this one, I had a great weekend Saturday I went trail riding with a mate we covered mostly dirt tracks and some tar (to get to the dirt) did around 100 kms. Tried out the new Kenda 776, felt a bit squirmy on the tarmac as you would imagine. Once we got to the dirt (hard pack rocky) it still felt squirmy, went through some mud and it felt good, plenty of bite didn't slip all over the place like the stock 603. Got further into the ride and I was starting to get used to it, still felt squirmy without power on but coming out of corners with power on I noticed it was hooking up and driving. I was starting to enjoy the new tyre.
The more power I added the better it felt, even when it started to slide it was easy to control unlike the 603 which would just let go usually dumping me on my ****. I was having fun Once we got back to the tar to come home the tyre felt good not squirming as much (maybe I was just getting used to it). So far I am very happy with it.
Sunday I was orgainsed to go for a road ride so I put the moto rims back on and met around 12 guys with all different bikes, everything from a XTZ750 yammie, SR500, vintage Ariel, AJS, Velocette, XJ750, GPz900R and my little 250. Well didn't I have fun, following the guys up to Ulong (very windy country road). One flat bit of road we wound them up to 140kph (87mph) and I stuck right there with them. Sure I didn't have the power to pass the leading 2 but I was staying right there with them cranking it over a fair way. The sidewalls actually got some use today [8D] I had a grin from ear to ear.
I just love this little powerhouse ... oh and remember mine is stock (engine, carbie & exhaust)
Gotta go to work catch ya later

87 MPH? Mav you got a set of onions, I will never go that fast on my bike, 60 is as fast as I ever want to go. But you sound like you had fun. Hey I won a movie on the poker run back in July called The Fastest Indian, awesome movie. If you haven't seen it check it out.

Thanks for the tire report, Mav! And also the supermoto report - sounded like a great time. Makes me want to get a 2nd set of rims w/some street tires mounted like you did. Also makes me wish my stupid shoulder would get better so I can ride again ... [:@]

Hey Deej, that was going by the speedo of the XTZ750 so its more than likely out, once I get my damn vapor I'll have a better idea. Thats a great movie Deej.
Brian, no problems I had a great time esp rounding up 750's and 650's around corners, just didn't have the mumbo to get round em .... maybe when I put the 300 kit on [8D]
