I use a VersaHaul on my Nissan XTerra when I only have the KLX and it's only me.

The Xterra is rated at 4500/5000 towing capacity, so with a 10% tonque weight limit
I'm good for about 450lbs.

 

I'm in PA. ...near Philly...stroll by and look at it if you want.I figured i could hold 700 on the Dakota, Class, whatever hitch i have on. I fabbed up a clamp to keep it from wigglin'......Don't really care about the tongue weight as the hitch has 10 bolts holding it on just like the one on the Toyota Tundra add !!!!!!!...that and i do know what it takes to break those bolts so i'm not really even concerned.The truck sits level yet with the Timbren blocks so i don't really care if there is 3 bikes on there yet.as long as it's built strong enough....which it is.
