KLX stranded me this morning...

Mine was in the same place, about 2.5 inches from barrel, same condition, fray area about .5 inch long. Don't think it was from crash damage. It is easy to check this spot by opening the throttle clamshell. Recommend people check this.

Could somebody post a photo of this? Would be easier to understand and check. I'm wondering now if there might be a design flaw with regard to the throttle clamshell. Or maybe it's just bad stock cables.

My take on lubrication is: everything, including dirt, will stick to it.
If the cable is operating smoothly, and the spring is easily snapping it shut, then you're better off NOT adding a liquid to the cable that will attract dirt, dust, sand, etc. Am I right?
I have a friend who lubes his cable almost weekly... I think he's asking for more trouble than he is potentially resolving.

I took my lubing advice from the dirt bike shop I frequent. It's a very light cable lube and I lube about once or twice per year. I usually notice a significant change in the feel after lubing.

So, your buddy obviously knows SO much more than all the manufacturers, technicians and 99% of riders..................?

I will be paying more attention to mine now - maybe take it apart a couple times a year to check for fraying... I'll probably give it a shot of dry lube at that time.
