klx in snow with A.D. Boivin explorer
Now I can enjoy my bike in the snow.
Thanks to me the klx250s 2006-7 is now on the list of supported bike. I just left my bike there for 2 days a we now have and adaptor!
I just tried it this weekend and it is a lot of fun. It's ideal for riding in woods where no snowmobile can go, with the nice torque the engine has it's a smooth ride. For open area it does lack some HP but that's not where the fun is to me. I'm not tall so I got a system to limit the suspension at the expense of having my feet in snow earlier in deep snow.
It really drive like a motorcycle but the steering feels heavier, almost like an ATV.
There's only one rows of wheels so it tilts while turning just like we do in sand in the summer.
There's some video on the official website: http://www.explorermoto.com

Very cool! That's got to be a kick to ride. Looks like you have plenty of snow to ride it in too. $3k is pretty steep, but you're going to be the only guy on the block with a set up like that. I know I don't have to tell you, but have fun with it.

It's not cheap, but it's not that bad considering it's not a separate vehicule I don't need to pay extra plate nor insurance.
It's still cheaper than buying a snowmobile but I really got it to ride in the woods where it's fun to ride in the summer. I got a snowmobile many years ago and I got bored because you always get stuck when you're outside the trails and it feels like highway when you're in the trail.
With this setup, it's not to easy to drive and not too hard, it's still a sport so it's going to help me stay in shape for the summer!

I'm not riding alone. My friend got one for his ktm 300xc.
On that picture you can see the strap holding the suspension (swing arm to subframe) that keeps my bike lower.
The explorer kit does raise the bike by at least 1 inch.

One friend came to try it yesterday, and he has a gopro camera so here's a nice video from yesterday's ride:

Great vid , nice editing. Looks like it does fine in the woods. I'm guessing it's a little harder to control compared to riding in the dirt when the wheels are on the bike?
looks like a blast , thanks for posting it up.

The handlebar feel is heavier, so you get a little bit more tired than in the summer but the curves are faster because you sit in like in sand. My friend usually does 24 minutes per turn in summer and he's now doing 21 minutes in winter. I'm not that fast and I never time myself.
