Thanks for the good words guys.. It's nice to hear positive things

Like Lutz said - that's all I'm hearing.. "Is it time to stop riding yet? Time to sell it? Time to take up golf?"

And then I reply - "Yes, and I'll stop leaving my house, and stop driving my car to work too"

I hate that crap. My wife knows better than to pull those lines on me. hahaa .. So she just stays silent about it.

But co-workers, family, friends that don't ride... I just want to smack'em.

Dang! While accidents can happen to anyone, some folks go by the old "if you aren't crashing you aren't riding hard enough" That's just moronic in my opinion. I have a blast every time I ride, and I ride the gravel roads 30-40 and the trails within my skill set. I have yet to wreck, and if I do it won't be because I was pinning it in any gear. It is possible to have fun and still be safe. I hope you get better and continue to ride. But you might want to kick it down a notch. LOL

Good luck for recovering. I guess incidents like this reminds us of the dangers of this sport, and when they are not catastrophic, serve as a lesson for many people. So, thanks for taking the time to write your story.

Sitting at the hospital, waiting to go in.
Deej - i am an adrenline junky. I have been my whole life. I fly airplanes, drive fast cars, surf hurricane waves, and ride my bike hard. It's just what I do. Everyone's brain is wired differently. While some may be content putting around on logging roads, others, like myself, want to be on the edge of traction holding on for dear life. Hahaa.
It is what it is.

Too funny! Last year I broke my collar bone at the beginning of the season. My wife said something (then) about giving up riding... Didn't happen though. As soon as I healed, I was out riding again. This year (a couple weeks ago) I messed up my ankle/knee in a unexpected get-off. Not a word from her this time about giving up riding, though SEVERAL "friends" have suggested it. Shows you who your *real* friends are.

Heal fast!!! Good luck with the surgery. Maybe you can find or modify a glove with a thumb brace or something to keep that from happening again.

I f'd up my left arm back in March in Death Valley when I got run off the road (trail) and ended up in baby-head sized rocks. Got thrown and landed on my left arm/elbow. I had full armor, which helped. But ever since, my left arm doesn't have that much strength and gets sore VERY easily. It's slowly getting better, but without any insurance, I haven't been to the doctor about it. Googling seems to indicate "tennis elbow" maybe. I hope that's all it is.

Rob
