Default KLX sending me to get sliced and diced again :(

A couple years ago I had a little accident with the KLX. Going around a corner at a high rate of speed, hanging the ***-end out, I low-sided and managed to rip my thumb backwards. Ripped the tendon that holds my thumb bones together.
Had surgery and all was well....

Until Monday.

Doing a gnarly hill climb - I was pinned in second gear and I hit a boulder.. The details after are fuzzy.. But I did a superman off my bike, and straight into a tree trunk head first. I head butted the tree, and then rolled down the hill to the bottom. At some point during all that, I ripped the same thumb tendon again

Back under the knife tomorrow. Two months with a cast, and a few more months of PT will follow.

I never wanted to go through this again, but crap happens I guess.. Not much I can do now other than just take it as it comes.

I'm going to see if the surgeon could add some carbon fiber reinforcements or something.. hahaa

My riding season is over unfortunately.

I was also quad shopping for the winter for some snow shenanigans but I guess I'll hold off on that for now

Be careful on the dirt, fockers!! I keep forgetting I'm old now and I get hurt easier. haha

At least I'm alive and don't have a broken neck or something. I thought I did some damage when I sailed into that tree. I guess my head is hard. haha

Ouch! Rough Monday for you CL. Sorry to hear about the injury. It's a dangerous sport. Hope you heal quick and proper.

Wow glad you're "OK". Now I'm gonna ride even slower...

Yep. that "old" thing is working me over too. Hit some deep talcum-like dirt a couple weeks ago which caused me to go down... right foot twisted backwards, with the bike and all my weight on top of it. Did some "soft tissue" damage that has me limping around still. Last year it was a broken collar bone... I hate getting old!

Heal quickly so you can get back to riding...

CL, it sounds like in both of your situations that you did what most of us do...and shouldn't. You probably put your hands out. It's one of those things that's nearly impossible to do since it's so instinctive. I hope your repair and healing goes well.

Healing vibes for you. Had my fair share too 3 months ago. I'm recovering ahead of schedule. Had titanium rod and screws on my left tibia. Can't wait to ride soon albeit a little slower now lol. Just had test ride for the first time yesterday around the block. It was a blast. Next ride would be 3 months from now when my bones fully healed. Getting old sucks lol.

heal up to ride again...i've been battling knee injuries and pains (non-moto related)....a full size tire that was stuck...i was pulling it too hard and it finally popped out, but hit directly my right knee as i was falling backwards bending my knee slightly the wrong way....luckily i can rear brake with my feet and don't need my right knee so much...i try to support the moto at a stop with mostly my left leg...urgh...age and injuries...

TNC - thats exactly it! Ive had two torn thumb tendos and a dislocated shoulder. Each one was because i put my hands out when falling. I keep telling myself - "tuck and roll, tuck and roll". But in the heat of the moment, reflexes take over and I have no say in what happens next! Damn. I messed up my wrist a couple weeks ago same way. Falling backwards down a hill - hand out to try to stop myself. Even thogh there was no way I could stop myself with just my hand - I still stuck it out to try. Dumb dumb. I'm paying for it. Maybe one day I'll learn.
Just happy we hit our insurance deductible for this year already so all expenses will be covered . Was a $30k surgery last time. Gahhhhh

Thats how I ended up with two screws in my wrist. Tried to catch myself falling backwards on a snowboard. They called it a FOOSH injury Fall On Outstreched Hand.

I hope you aren't too uncomfortable and heal fast. You're right , getting old sucks.

CL, heal well. Maybe you've heard it already, but are you ready to sell that thing yet?. That's what my wife asked me last time I got racked up. Now she says if I get hurt like that again that she's going to leave me to fend for myself until I heal up. Guess she didn't like my groans of agony...no sympathy.

I hear you on the insurance...times like this it's really nice to have it.
