KLX-less in Calgary

Wow, cool picture.
Does it have a 21" front wheel? Some pics I saw show an sm set-up and others normal dirt wheels.
MORE PICS!
It seems that was BMW's KLX650, great bike but never really caught on here(although, they seem popular in Europe). Everything I've read is good, but not many to be seen, at least around here.
I like the carbon cover on the pipe. I'm a sucker for carbon parts. That's how I ended up with a '96 Ducati 900 SS SP (the SP came from the factory with carbon fenders and clutch cover, oh and the limited run number plate).
Interested in an off-road report........I'll be waiting.

Until then, I am restricted to hard-pack terrain so I can't yet give you a proper 'off road' report yet, but I did get it off slab for ~100km (60mi) today. I can tell you that it's got nice clearance and plush suspension for a SuMo. I think it's going to be geared a tad tall when in really gnarly terrain so a sprocket swap is on the list of mods to make soon.

Yup deej, I had every intention of buying a 650 with a conventional 21" front & 18" rear combo. I test rode the usual suspects and just found them too sloppy on pavement. Also, none of them really set my heart on fire like the G650x either!
At this point in my life, I am trying to downsize my fleet of bikes a bit. I need something that can handle slab, even if that means compromising off-road capability. It's my understanding that the G650 x-challenge uses the same front forks as the x-moto, so I am hoping a 21" wheel will bolt up with more ease than on the KLX SF.
Regardless, a set of 17" dual sport tires are next on my list and look forward to providing a report for anyone who's interested

I got a set of Heidenau K73s on the G650x this weekend and hit some single track.
My first impression of the tires is that they are surprisingly good off road given their relatively street-biased tread. We did some rock, gravel, a little mud, and a creek crossing. I was a little more concerned about dumping the G with all its pretty painted body work than I would have been on the KLX, but I kept it upright the whole time!
The bike handled the terrain well; lots of ground clearance and very stable on loose surfaces at any speed. A little more rear-end chatter under hard accelleration on uneven surfaces than I'd like, but I am not done setting the suspension up (I am thinking a little less rebound damping(?)).
One thing about the bike is clear: it's geared too tall for real off-roading. Throttle closed in 1st gear is still good for 12kmh (8mph). I am going to need a smaller front sprocket!

I should also say that on-slab, the Heidenau K73s are a major step down from the Pirelli Diablos that came stock on the G650x. That was to be expected though considering how razor sharp and effortless the Pirellis are!

That looks similar to my XCountry. I just put Kenda 57H/65H F/R respectively. I'll be testing them on the fire roads in CO this August.
My bike was a little rough at lower rpms, I put a header wrap on it to keep my ankle cool & was surprised it really knocked the edge off the throttle in that range.
It is too high geared for serious off road work.

It was 30C (85F) but none-the-less, here I am ploughing over an unexpected snowbank we encountered on a trail.
It's not a great shot of the K73s, but if you look closely you'll see they are more of a dirt-tracker tread than a knobby.
