The KLX Kawasaki SHOULD have built.
This is my 2009 KLX250S. I've been building bikes for years at my shop. Here's my latest build, and a list of what's been done.
308 big bore kit
FMF Power Bomb Header and FMF Q4
Full head porting-with 3 angle valve job
Stainless valves
35mm FCR carb
twin air air filter w/ lid off
2001 KX500 forks and bottom triple clamp
Revalved rear shock
IMS footpegs
Fat Bars with handguards
Bash plate from Utah Cycle
Full ***** front and back
Gearing is stock 14-42
Took off uneeded weight
This is by far the most fun KLX I've ever built. The combo of the 80mm Wiseco piston and custom porting, along with the 35mm FCR really makes this motor come alive. The rear wheel breaks loose at 6000 to 9500rpm(in dirt) what a rush! And the suspension upgrade allows me to attack off road ugliness with confidence. I have no problem keeping pace with my buddies Husky TE250. I'm going to be at the RORR dualsport this weekend having a blast.

how much is the height gain from the kx forks. i want to do that once i have my car running (prioritys, prioritys ), and was thinking i would need a 117.5 rear link to even it out, what do you think?

Very nice
Would you do a head/valve job if I sent you my head? If so shoot me a PM with details and price, I'll be giving the bike a bit of an overhaul over the winter, this was on the wish list.

I kept the KX fork length the same as the stock KLX. When I revalved the forks I installed 1.250 spacers to reduce their length. But if you wanted to keep the KX forks at their normal length, then yes, you would need to change the rear dogbones to even the bike out.

No problem I can do that. The flow improvements in the head alone are really what the bike needs. The port design in both the intake and exhaust is just plain bad.

I'm still using the stock cams, they are pretty darn good. Sorry, but I'm not going to tell my porting and flowing secrets to the world.
